About the Role

This is a Fixed Term Position until July 2025

Reporting to the Director, Flood Recovery Operations, you will be responsible for coordinating insurance and Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangement claims for natural disaster events emanating from Victoria’s Road network recovery from the October 2022 flood and storm event, and subsequent events. The role will assist in the implementation of a clear process for the undertaking of insurance claims on behalf of the Transport Service group. This role will work closely with various internal stakeholders and external agencies.

To be successful in the role, the ideal candidate will possess strong negotiation and influencing skills, adept at fostering partnerships with diverse stakeholders. They will excel in process management, overseeing property insurance lifecycles. Their communication skills will include drafting various documents, financial reporting, and engaging with government structures. They will provide expertise to support DTP's strategic activities, identifying and managing potential reputation risks. Further, they will be accountable for the following responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders across DTP, other agencies and external contractors.
  • Proactively coordinate property insurance claims from natural disaster events since the October 2022 flood and storm events
  • Lead existing insurance claims management resources and manage the administration of the property insurance claims for the Transport Services group.
  • Implement, refine and provide continuous improvement to the property insurance claims process alongside contractors and internal resources.
  • Provide accurate and authoritative advice to Transport Services Executive and various stakeholders.
  • Develop briefings and requests when required on behalf of Transport Services in relation to property insurance claims.
  • Proactively support emerging priorities with an agility to shift focus to respond to reactive issues and risks to support requirements of management.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A relevant tertiary degree in business, engineering or public policy or extensive relevant experience.
  • Experience in insurance claims or general process management would be beneficial.
