Senior/Associate Electrical Engineer

Our Water team promotes holistic, sustainable water resource management for governments, investors, developers, manufacturers, utilities, and corporations, helping with network maintenance and development, risk mitigation, regulatory compliance, cost reduction, and future-ready strategies.
This role will see you enhance your capabilities and the reputation of WSP’s Water Utilities team. You will join one of the largest consulting teams in Adelaide in the water sector and collaborate with talented professionals nationwide (Melbourne, Sydney, Newcastle, Adelaide, Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, and Gold Coast). Working on iconic projects, you will drive future-ready outcomes that will benefit clients and communities.
We are involved in some of Australia's industry leading water programs partnering with key clients including:
- SA Water Engineering Panel
- Logan Water Partnership, Logan City Council
- Wastewater Regional Program and Water Southern Zones Programs, Urban Utilities
- Capital Delivery Office (CDO), TasWater
- Gold Coast PSP
- Delivering 4 Customers, Sydney Water
We understand that everybody's strengths differ, and while we value having the right experience, we are opening applications to candidates with proven experience in the water, mining or industrial sector. Ideally joining our team as a Senior or Associate Electrical Engineer, you will:
- Work as part of a national multi-disciplinary team to deliver on project goals.
- Liaise with project stakeholders, including clients and vendors.
- Produce high-quality technical documentation that presents complex information and results effectively to technical and non-technical clients.
- Undertake field and desktop investigations related to the condition, appropriateness, and capacity of existing electrical infrastructure for capital upgrades.
- Prepare detailed documentation and specification requirements for electrical components to support procurement and delivery of allocated projects.
- Demonstrate technical and commercial acumen with a focus on successful outcomes for our projects and clients.
- Actively shape the industry through involvement in committees, industry bodies, and delivery papers.
- Possess specific safety knowledge/understanding in areas such as protection, arc flash, earthing, hazardous areas, and machine safety principles.
You will have experience leading the delivery of efficient and effective engineering consultancy services to our public and private sector clients, including the preparation of client-focused proposals.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent tertiary qualifications.
- Chartered Engineer, or working towards it.
- RPEQ certification is an advantage.
- Experience working within an engineering consultancy or in a design role for a contractor or asset owner. Experience in the water industry is preferred.
- Understanding and demonstrated experience in the development of standards, conceptual and detailed design, and design management of electrical infrastructure, particularly relating to the water utility sector or similar.
- Design background in PTW design, LV and ELV electrical systems, PLC/telemetry, and instrumentation and control.
- Emerging experience in project management.
- Ability to provide technical contributions to proposals and/or pursuits.
- Consult with our clients in an effective and professional manner.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, team members, and peers. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
