Early Childhood Education Program Officer

The George Institute is very proud to be working on a large-scale study investigating the potential benefits of intergenerational programs. Similar to ‘Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds’, the Early Childhood Education Program Officer role will facilitate playgroups that will include preschool aged children and older adults from the community. This is a fantastic opportunity to step outside of the traditional ECEC learning environment and be part of incredibly important research.

The Opportunity

The aim of our study is to investigate whether intergenerational programs in the community can improve health benefits for older adults aged 65+ as well as young children aged 3-4 years.

This research will be a 20-week program for those who consent to join at their nearest participating pre-school.

We are looking for an Intergenerational Educator to deliver the intergenerational programs.

Duties and Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and lead sessions in accordance with the protocol of the trial
  • Actively participate in team meetings and other essential activities as required

Our successful candidate has:

  • Early Years Education Qualification (Diploma highly desirable but not essential)
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in early education (highly desirable)
  • A keen interest with the local community and intergenerational work
  • Very strong administration skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to travel across Sydney and Greater Sydney
