About the role
Maddocks’ is widely recognized for its leading Planning and Environment Practice. Our Sydney Team has grown significantly, and we continue to attract high quality and interesting work. Our clients include a mixture of state, local, and commonwealth government departments as well as private sector clients in a wide range of industries. We have an opportunity for a Planning & Environment Lawyer to join our successful Public Law team. This role will give a motivated senior Lawyer who is passionate about Planning & Environment law the opportunity to further develop their skills and progress their career working in a collaborative culture on a broad range of public law, planning, and environment matters. You will be involved in many aspects of our practice in a litigious and non-litigious capacity. There is a broad range of work including contaminated sites, environmental compliance, contracts and procurement, compulsory acquisitions along with disputes & litigation matters (such as class 1,3, 4 and 5 appeals), NCAT and AAT matters, as well as judicial review.
About you
Ideally you will have:
- Approximately 5+ years’ experience in planning and environment law (advisory and litigious)
- Exceptional technical and drafting skills
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
- An enquiring mind as well as possessing sound judgment and a can-do attitude
- A commitment to teamwork and achieving challenging objectives
- Strong academic qualifications
You may have a background of working in government and be keen to make your move into a private practice law firm. Alternatively, you will be doing similar work in another firm and looking for a new opportunity.
