About the RoleThe Project Engineer for the Queensland Train Manufacturing Program project in Hervey Bay will be responsible for coordinating on-site construction engineering activities with the aim of achieving project time and budget objectives. This role involves overseeing the implementation of engineering plans, managing contractors and suppliers, and ensuring that all construction activities are executed efficiently and in accordance with project specifications. The Project Engineer will play a key role in driving the successful completion of the project within the designated timeframe and budget.
Responsibilities of the role include:- Coordinate and administer construction engineering activities to ensure that projects are implemented in accordance with plans, designs, and specifications
- Assist with the preparation of site construction budgets and reports
- Monitor construction progress for adherence to program and report to the Site Manager or Project Manager
- Interpret designs for implementation in construction projects
- Demonstrate financial management skills and commercial acumen when making decisions
- Assign work and assist with reviews for accuracy and adherence to required standards
- Execute working knowledge of contractual and legislation relevant to the project
- Undertake quantitative and qualitative safety, environment, and quality risk assessment to ensure acceptable quality of structures and finishes
- Analyze and use document and record management, progress and project performance reporting compliance reporting
- Demonstrate sound people management skills by managing work and performance of subcontractors to achieve outcomes
- Utilize effective time management skills including sequencing of work of own and resource time management
- Perform all duties in accordance with John Holland policies, processes, systems, reporting, and procedures
Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Science, Building Construction or equivalent
Diploma of Project Management in Engineering, Science, Building, Construction or equivalent
Minimum 5-10 years’ engineering experience
Project Engineer and operational experience
Knowledge of project management structure, plans, specification, standards and implications for project accountabilities
Understanding of the Project Design Management Plan, Quality Management Plan, Safety Management Plan, and Environmental Management Plan
Pre-contracts knowledge in relation to design, planning, and legislative requirements
