About the role 

The Risk & Compliance Partner plays a significant role in supporting the implementation of the Customer 360 program by ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and statutory requirements. This role also supports in the execution of risk management activities, in accordance with GMHBA’s Risk Management Framework and Compliance Framework.

Some key requirements for this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of strategy and plans for the Customer 360 transformation program.
  • Ensure alignment with and overlay of, the GMHBA Risk Management Framework and Compliance Framework and all associated policies and procedures, within the Customer 360 program of work.
  • Adhere to the organisational framework for the reporting of statutory and constitutional requirements, as required. Coach project team members around their reporting obligations in accordance with the GMHBA Risk Management Framework and Compliance Framework.
  • Advise the Program Director of any risks and issues that may need to be escalated from time to time. Support and coach the project team in adequately assessing and documenting any risks that may arise.
  • In alignment with GMHBA’s Risk Management Framework and practices promote and support the implementation and documentation of any applicable changes to risk information management processes.
  • Provide support to the program as required on risk processes and registers, maintaining a high level of accuracy and currently of content.
  • Identify operational risks, assist in investigating their root causes and provide support to mitigate risk through understanding control effectiveness and recommending risk improvement.
  • Review compliance processes including but not limited to ensuring all touchpoints and processes relating to Customer 360 are implemented with compliant practices.
  • Carry out legal compliance processes and where appropriate, engage the Risk and Compliance team to seek legal counsel including but not limited to:
    • review legal advice to ensure detail is in line current processes and practices,
    • maintain legal advice filing system.
  • Assist in the management, investigating and reporting of incidents and breaches identified through the Customer 360 Program.
  • Provide assistance and level of risk associated with legal advice to internal stakeholders, obtain legal advice as required and maintain, administer and oversee the legal database for 360 Program.
  • Support, educate and inform stakeholders to increase awareness of operational risk & compliance across the program.

About you

As the successful candidate, you’ll be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • Experience working in an operational Risk & Compliance role.
  • Ability to understand and maintain audit and compliance systems.
  • Demonstrated capacity to communicate policy, procedure, and service needs.
  • Ability to communicate with and influence people at various levels of the organisation.
  • Good presentation development and delivery skills.
  • Good communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Team oriented, flexible, collaborative, consultative.

Highly desirable

  • Tertiary Qualification within a related discipline, i.e. Business, Commerce, Law, or equivalent experience
  • Certificate in Governance, Risk & Compliance practices
  • Experience within the private health insurance industry
  • Experience within a health-related business
  • Formal audit qualification and or other relevant qualification
  • Understanding of the legislative environment, specifically Compliance Plans and other PHI obligations
  • Demonstrated experience in a transformational change project, using Agile principles.
