ABOUT THE ROLE
This role is a Permanent 9-day fortnight working arrangement – Worsley Alumina DIDO from Collie WA. As the Senior Geotechnical/Civil Engineer, you will be responsible for accountable for the integrity of the Bauxite Residue Disposal Areas (BRDAs) and water storage dams during design, construction, operation, and closure. This role will give you the opportunity to deliver challenging projects and provide technical leadership in tailings management. Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:
- Establish the scopes for studies, guide consultants, and interpret data to make informed decisions
- Support and provide leadership to a small team of Geotechnical and Civil Engineers
- Be familiar with the content and requirements of the Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management (GISTM), ANCOLD, and other regulatory standards on tailings and water dams
- As a technical expert, understand the design, construction, operation, and performance of tailings storage facilities and water dams.
ABOUT YOU
You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
- Ability to communicate with and influence operational and engineering personnel
- Understanding of technical standards and regulations
- Proven ability to work in a large team of technical professions and relate technical solutions to financial decisions
Qualifications for this position are:
- Engineering degree qualification in a relevant engineering subject (civil, geotechnical, environmental, geological)
- Experience in tailings dam and mine engineering preferred but not essential.
