Detailed job description - Skill Set:
The Business Analyst / Domain Consultant supports the delivery of a project and initiatives. The role requires engagement with internal and external resources and typically combines knowledge of the energy sector and broader experience in effective business analysis:
4 years’ experience in SCADA, WAMS and DER Management systems.
A. Power systems modeling & Planning:
i) Knowledge of Transmission and distribution systems modeling ii) Knowledge of relationship between network models and planning functions iii) Exposure to standard commercial off the shelf power system models – PSS/E, PS-CAD etc.
iv) Exposure to enterprise entity registration platforms for power system operators v) Identity and access management in power system operator tools vi) Exposure to dynamic adjustment of power system models in control room operations through platforms like AEMS
vii) Exposure to electricity regulatory landscape and functional structure of Australia power system – major actors, main bodies, governance structures viii) Knowledge of long-term power systems planning and various modeling techniques/models like capacity expansion, production cost modeling etc.
ix) Knowledge and understanding of load and DER generation forecasting.
B. Power System Operations
i) Knowledge of scheduling & dispatch operations ii) Understanding of SCADA, WAMS, AEMS and DER Management systems
iii) Unit-commitment and Economic Load Dispatch and SCED iv) SCADA, RTUs and sub-station automation protocols, ICCP
v) Exposure to commercial utility operations tools like AEMS, ADMS, DERMS vi) Understanding of wholesale electricity markets

vii) Exposure to market management tools and scheduling engines for ex. GE’s AMMS etc. viii) Exposure to dynamic adjustment of power system models in control room operations through platforms like AEMS
ix) Exposure to enterprise entity registration platforms for power system operators x) Identity and access management in power system operator tools
- Understanding of GE products – GridOS, AGC, AEMS, Operational Forecasting and Dynamic Security Assessment (DSA).
- Working experience (at least 3-5 years) of GE Products – GridOS, AGC, AEMS, Operational Forecasting.
Mandatory Skills:
• A strong knowledge of the energy sector, including both industry and regulatory matters.
• Extensive experience gathering, writing and analysing requirements and taking them through to conceptualization with experience in authoring technical documentation and end user documentation.
• Excellent analytical skills, including a proven ability to quickly analyse and develop data models, identify patterns, business rules, workflows and interfaces.
• Proven ability to conceptualize, develop and articulate solutions and to specify functional / nonfunctional technical requirements that are well accepted by stakeholders within short time-frames.
• Effectively communicate (verbal or written) to internal and external stakeholders. Sound interpersonal, consultation and facilitation skills coupled with proven ability to work collaboratively with a broad range of diverse internal teams.
• Ability to work as directed, while using initiative and gather experience to take preventative steps when required to ensure that a program or project meets deliverable targets.
