• Our client - a leading Mechanical and Automation Engineering company - AE Gibson & Sons Pty Ltd, is located in the Port Macquarie region of NSW – a great lifestyle near beaches, forests, and all the facilities – schools, university, regional airport, M1 motorway, sports, healthcare etc.

Well-established family-owned engineering business with a rich heritage spanning over 100 years. AE Gibson specialize in designing and building hi-tech automated machines and systems to help customers efficiently process renewable resources, biomass, and waste, throughout Australia, New Zealand, and Oceania.

Due to company growth and promotion, the business is seeking a General Manager to be instrumental in the company's expansion strategy, focused on efficiencies, productivity, and safety culture. Reporting directly to the CEO, the General Manager will be responsible for increasing the business's production effectiveness, managing efficient manufacturing processes, and highly productive teams.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the business, specifically:

• Leading and fostering a strong safety culture.
• Continually identifying opportunities for manufacturing efficiencies and continuous improvements to increase production effectiveness and capacity.
• Implementing strategies to achieve and exceed budgeted revenue and profit targets.
• Developing, supporting, and nurturing relationships with clients and supply partners.
• Leading with a hands-on approach.
• Managing 3 direct reports and overseeing 30+ team members, including engineering, operations, manufacturing, and field service staff.

To be successful in this position you:

• Have strong leadership skills capable of motivating, coaching and developing others.
• Are capable of concurrently managing multiple workstreams.
• Have a demonstrated understanding of and focus on safety culture.
• Have significant leadership experience in an engineering or manufacturing business.
• Have a proven track record of delivering operational excellence and a demonstrated ability to impact the P&L through cost control and margin enhancement.
• Ability to focus and have a flexible approach when faced with change, competing priorities and work demands.
• Experience working in a fast paced and dynamic environment and driving a customer centric culture that operates with a sense of urgency.
• Experienced at leading change in a business and developing and implementing new processes.
• Problem solving skills, complemented by strong negotiating, and influencing skills .
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The role will require you to occasionally travel to customer sites around Australia. A valid drivers license is required.
