The Institute for Medieval Research (IMAFO), Department of Byzantine Research (ABF), of the Austrian

Academy of Sciences (OeAW), Austria’s leading non-university research and science institution, is offering a

position as

**ACADEMY SCIENTIST (F/M/X)**
(20 - 40hrs per week)

for a duration of 3 years (36 months) with the possibility of a tenure track option. The start is scheduled for

October 01st, 2023. This position is employed part-time from October to December 2023. As of January 2024,

the employment will be converted into a full-time position.

The Academy Scientist position will be based in the research cluster “Language, Text, and Script” of the AFB.

in Euchologia.

**Your tasks**:

- Creating critical editions (in digital format)
- Collaboration with other colleagues in the research clusters “Language, Text, and Script”,

“Communities and Landscapes” (especially Euchologia project) and “Social and Religious History”.

**Your profile**:

- Completed PhD (in Byzantine Studies)
- Experience with critical editions of Byzantine texts, especially digital editions
- Profound skills in Greek palaeography
- Profound knowledge of Byzantine literature and its socio-cultural function
- Soft skills (flexibility, communication skills, creativity, capacity for teamwork)
