Organizational Setting
The Department of Nuclear Sciences and Applications implements the IAEA's Major Programme 2, "Nuclear Techniques for Development and Environmental Protection". This Major Programme comprises individual programmes on food and agriculture, human health, water resources, environment and radiation technologies. These programmes are supported by laboratories in Seibersdorf, Monaco and Vienna. The Major Programme's objective is to enhance the capacity of Member States to meet basic human needs and to assess and manage the marine and terrestrial environments through the use of nuclear and isotopic techniques in sustainable development programmes.

Functions / Key Results Expected
- Serve as scientific secretary in Technical Meetings and Research Coordination Meetings and support cross-cutting IAEA activities related to research reactors, including the organization of the IAEA Research Reactor Conference, as well as participate in other meetings as necessary.
- Compile, or coordinate the preparation of, proceedings or technical reports and documents. Ensure the quality and timely updating of the IAEA's neutron source and neutron instrumentation databases.
- Evaluate and identify novel/existing techniques for utilizing research reactors in bringing the benefits of nuclear science and technology to the Member States.
- Evaluate and recommend proposals for the award of research contracts and technical cooperation projects in the above fields.

Master's Degree - Nuclear physics, nuclear engineering or related field. PhD in nuclear physics, nuclear engineering or related field is an asset.
- Familiarity with the requirements in developing countries and/or collaboration with research reactor users in developing countries.
- Proven skills in writing technical reports and research papers.
- Experience in organizing technical meetings/workshops and training courses is desirable.
Excellent oral and written command of English. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is an asset.
