Data Center Network Technician

**Skills, knowledge, experience required**:

- Experience using tools such as:

- Computer-aided facility management (CAFM) systems;
- DCPlanner;
- Thorough knowledge on monitors, switches, routers, and other technical equipment;
- Troubleshooting skills required to solve network issues promptly;
- Customer service skills;
- Problem-solving skills to provide solutions for any issues with operating systems;
- Analysis and critical thinking skills;
- Abilty to multitask.

**Desirable**:

- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Data Center.

**Duties/role**:

- Establishing and maintaining a physical and logical connectivity between infrastructure components, services, and devices within the Data Center (DC) and all areas of Office buildings as well as to/from external serving and depending services;
- Installing/decommissioning the infrastructure hardware elements and/or providing support to said activities;
- Performing physical and capacity planning, including space, power (UPS), cooling, and physical cabling, ensuring compliance with the DC design policies and conventions;
- Performing asset management as well as identifying, cataloguing, labelling, and tracking the infrastructure elements and devices inclusive of all networking equipment, cabling, power sources, cooling, etc.;
- Escorting visitors in and around the DC;
- Providing a regular or on-demand checking of the DC health by means of tooling, test devices (e.g. Fluke testers), and visual checks;
- Maintaining technical and security policy systems in the DC;
- Detecting and rectifying network faults to avoid a downtime;
- Carrying out installation and documentation for passive networks (copper and glass);
- Analyzing and providing problem resolution to ensure timely delivery of hosting requirement;
- Ensuring the DC policies and procedures follow customer and service provider standards;
- Utilizing custom monitoring software and an internal ticketing system to provide customer support;
- Providing inventory tracking and updating it to maintain a valid count of materials and supplies;
- Monitoring and responding to environmental, security, and equipment monitoring systems along with a hardware and network repair.
