Join our dynamic R&D team in the field of Animal Nutrition & Health with focus on Host-Microbiome Interaction as a Junior Scientist. Specializing in next-generation sequencing for microbiome analysis across various sample-types, you’ll play a key role in advancing our research on structure & functionality of the animal gastrointestinal tract based on highly scientific in vivo, ex vivo & in vitro studies as well as field studies in collaboration with customers. **Your key responsibilities**
- Design, execution & coordination, evaluation and documentation of laboratory experiments, including regular quality control checks
- Supervise & execute the whole sample analysis workflow from collection & organisation of shipment to DNA/RNA extraction, library preparation for microbiome sequencing using and Illumina platforms and basic data processing
- Effectively communicate results through oral presentations and timely written technical reports
- Stay updated on the latest techniques and technologies (lab automation) in NGS, particularly Oxford Nanopore Technology and Illumina platforms
- Communicate & collaborate with other internal cross-functional teams as well as external partners to support research initiatives

- Type of employment: Full time for 38,5 hours / week, temporary contract for 16 months
**You bring**
- Master's degree in natural science/life science or related disciplines or equivalent education with a solid experience in molecular biological & microbiological concepts (sterile work, bacterial cultivation, nucleic acid based techniques, etc.) and ideally also in cell-culture work
- Hands-on experience in sample processing for microbiome analysis (DNA extraction, library preparation for Oxford Nanopore Technology and Illumina sequencing platforms)
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset for working with diverse teams
- High motivation to learn new skills & to think creatively supporting strong problem-solving abilities
- Proactive, curious, and passionate about scientific discovery
- Proficiency in English (written and verbal) with a drive for digesting and discussing scientific articles
- Willigness to travel up to 10% of your working time
