The Advocacy Section (AS), Public Affairs and Policy Support Branch (PAB), Division for Policy Analysis and Public Affairs (DPA), United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Vienna, Austria internship is for a period of three to six months, starting in August 2023.

The internship is UNPAID and full-time. Interns work five days per week (40 hours) under the supervision of a Public Information Officer.

**Responsibilities**:
Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual's background; the intern's assigned office as well as the internship period. Duties may include, but are not limited to:

- Translate UNODC web pages, new web stories, social media content, and campaign materials into Spanish language and upload on relevant platforms;
- Proofread press releases translated into Spanish language;
- Draft social media messages for UNODC's corporate social media channels;
- Assist in the management of UNODC Twitter accounts;
- Prepare monthly reports for website and social media analytics;
- Conduct research relevant to the work of UNODC;
- Compile and disseminate press clippings on UNODC and its mandate areas;
- Maintain social media and media database;
- Perform other duties within the communications team as assigned.

Education

To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:

- Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic

year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent). (OFFICIAL WRITTEN PROOF FROM THE UNIVERSITY SUPPORTING ONE OF THE ABOVE POSSIBILITIES MUST BE ATTACHED TO THE INSPIRA

APPLICATION);
- Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and
- Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

Work Experience

Languages
English and Spanish are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position(s) advertised, fluency in spoken and written English AND Spanish are required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
