- € 1,906 to € 2,044* gross/month depending on level of education - 3 to 6 months (start in April)

Your Responsibilities

The Imaging and Optics Facility of ISTA provides state-of-the-art fluorescence microscopy services, flow cytometry services, as well as custom image analysis and optical development services. As an intern in our team, you will support our scientists in carrying out their research work:

- Contribute to general core facility and infrastructure tasks, including routine facility checks, inventory checks and control of facility (loan) equipment
- Support in basic operation of microscopy equipment
- Assist in standard quality monitoring and performance checks
- Optional: “project involvement” in optimization of calibration standards and optical maintenance protocols AND/OR involvement in development of advanced imaging controls toolbox (depending on applicant qualification)

Your Profile
- Completed BSc or enrolled in MSc in Physics, Life Science or Neuroscience (or equivalent)
- Basic knowledge in microscopy techniques (e.g. Brightfield, Fluorescence, Confocal)
- Basic knowledge of programming languages (e.g. FIJI macro, Matlab, Python) of advantage
- High level of interest in the Imaging and Optics Facility services
- Knowledge of programming/scripting languages (e.g. C, Python) in development of advanced imaging controls toolbox required for “project involvement”
- Strong affinity with Optics, Electronics and Programming of advantage for “project involvement”
- Service-oriented and conscientious approach to work
- Eager to learn, proactive personality and team player
- Ability to independently take over small projects
- Good command of English (Institute language)
