PhD-Student Position (M/F/ d)

**Project**: “Predicting histological features from in vivo MRI”
This project part of a cooperative doctoral program between the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences
and the Medical University of Vienna (MUV) with the goal to bridge the gap between
brain research and clinical needs.

**Basic Informatio n**:
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is sensitive to iron content and myelination, but the exact relationship
between these tissue properties and MRI images is unclear. Both biological tissue parameters are needed to
study the development and diseases of the human brain but are currently only accessible via ex vivo histol
- ogy.
This PhD project will focus on the development of deep learning-based techniques to predict ex-vivo histo
- logical features based on in-vivo MRI e.g. to visualize myelin and iron distributions.

**Your profile**:
Programming skills (MATLAB, or Python)
Experience with (medical) image processing (optional)
Basic knowledge of MR physics (optional)
High motivation, independence, and teamwork
