Senior Innovation and Digital Transformation Officer

The position is located in the Information Technology Service (ITS), Division for Management (DM), United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV) / United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). The Senior Innovation and Digital Transformation Officer reports to the Chief of the Information Technology Service ITS/DM/UNOV-UNODC.

**Responsibilities**:
Within delegated authority, the Senior Innovation and Digital Transformation Officer will be responsible for the following specific duties:

- Manage the UNOV/UNODC technology innovation portfolio and related support for UNOV/UNODC Digital Transformation initiatives, seeking to add value to UNODC global, regional, and national projects and supported Secretariat entities. Track benefits, including financial performance, efficiency and effectiveness committed in the portfolio. Provide substantive input in the preparation of the ITS budget plans and submissions.
- Advise the Chief of ITS on, and co-lead on the elaboration of, the ITS Strategy, particularly on innovative approaches for ITS to ensure a right fit approach to sourcing of digital transformation activities. Advise the Chief of ITS on any organizational aspects as they may be relevant, including structures, roles, or governance.
- Represent and deputize Chief during periods of absence or as assigned.
- Lead the ITS Enterprise Architecture initiative. Oversee architecture as it relates to technologies and technological solutions. Take the role of alternate chair on the existing governance board. As an output to enterprise architecture work, determine legacy, prioritize initiatives to eliminate legacy, as well as recommend the overcoming of technological debt.
- Ensure that innovation happens in alignment with UN policy, the Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT) strategy, and mandated directions. Liaise, as required, with global UN architecture-related forums to ensure compliance of all UNOV/UNODC solutions. Advise the Chief of ITS on complex innovation-related compliance issues.
- Review and recommend uses of new technologies, as shared internally, or escalated by ITS governance bodies, or after requirements from the UNOV/UNODC organization.
- Make recommendations so innovation is a core component of projects, including adequate governance arrangements. Support UNOV, UNODC global, regional, and national projects in field offices on proposals for ICT solutions to support project objectives.
- Connect regularly with internal and external clients, using multilingualism due to expansion of services in Francophone speaking countries, to ensure that innovation plans and delivery go in line with client hopes and wishes. Build rapport and promote UNOV/UNODC innovation-related activities.
- Establish and leverage partnerships to deliver more value through collaborative innovation.
- Lead some projects (as assigned by the Chief of ITS) including those with high complexity, some of which may impact existing ICT operations and thus require advising infrastructure managers.
- Lead team members efforts to collect and analyze data and provide insight to identify trends or patterns for data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting. Ensure that everyone can discover, access, integrate and share the data they need.
- Participate in various committees and inter-governmental Governance bodies as a representative of ITS as required.
- Perform other work-related duties, as required.
