The ASSA ABLOY Opening Solutions EMEIA division leads the development within door openings and products for access solutions in homes, businesses, and institutions. Our offering includes doors, door and window hardware, locks, access control and service. The division has an annual turnover of €2billion and 12,000 employees, with commercial and operational activities managed through 13 Market Regions across Europe, Middle East, India and Africa.

We are currently looking for a **Head of R&D** to join our** Digital Access Systems (DAS) organisation in our EMEIA division**. The Head of R&D will be responsible for **Electronic Access Control (EAC)**; a highly strategic product area within the division.

In this role, you will lead a multi-national team of R&D Engineers at our R&D hubs in Poland and Stockholm**,** as well a network of international development partners who are acting in all areas of R&D, like Pre-Product Innovation, New Product Innovation, Continuous Product Improvements and Quality Assurance.

The Head of R&D collaborates with the relevant internal and external stakeholders and is responsible for initiating, driving and delivering on all R&D activities of the product line roadmap within the committed time, cost, and quality factors. You’ll also be responsible for further enhancement of the skill and capabilities of the EAC R&D team (around 30+ experts). Ultimately, it will be your goal to significantly improve the capability in Cloud Software development and UI/UX development.

The position will report to the CTO (Access Control & IoT) DAS EMEIA and forms part of the EAC product area leadership team.

**What you would do as Head of R&D - EAC**:
**Your core responsibilities will include, but are not limited to**:

- Executing product and technology developments, according to the generation plan and roadmap of the ASSA ABLOY EAC portfolio, while actively collaborating with the Head of EAC Product Management
- Leading product development activities of the entire EAC product area, with focus on Cloud-based EAC products and software integration of Cloud Services into on-premise EAC products
- Be the ‘go-to person’ and a key partner for business and operational stakeholders, supporting them in executing business objectives
- Reduce reliance on external services and build competence and capabilities of the in-house DAS EAC R&D team; endeavouring to develop a team of multi-site, multi-cultural innovation experts
- Driving the development of the EAC controller platform with communized and modular hardware and firmware components
- Ensuring that all EAC R&D projects are delivered on time and on target

**The skills and experience you need**:

- BSc degree in Software Engineering; a relevant Msc is highly advantageous
- At least 5+ years of experience in a comparable management position with a proven track record in Product Engineering and Manufacturing for mechatronic products/systems
- Additional experience in Product Development (software, UI/UX, embedded firmware, electronics)
- Experience in interaction with Product, Program and Project Management teams
- Experience in volume product launches and production start-ups
- Experience in dealing with supplier and operational quality issues in a high-volume production environment
- Relevant experience in a global corporation and familiarity of working in a complex matrix environment

**As our common business language, fluency in spoken and written English is essential (additional language skills are highly advantageous). A willingness to travel within the EMEIA region (and occasionally beyond) is essential, as this role will require international travel.**
