We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Operations Buyer within our Purchasing team to help support our Automotive business. Our automotive products fall into four primary groups: Seating and Lumbar support, Wireless Charging, Motors and Actuators, and Mechanical Cables. As a Operations Buyer you will be accountable to provide support to Operations with issues related to external suppliers and will support the category teams with the implementation of strategy initiatives. The Operations Buyer is also accountable to support operations with indirect procurement needs, which are not covered by regional indirect procurement contracts.
So, what will you be doing as a Operations Buyer?
- Responsible for the implementation of regional indirect contracts (negotiated by Regional Indirect Procurement Managers) within the Branch(s), and responsible for all indirect purchases not covered by regional contracts.
- Manage commercials aspects (negotiation & implementation) of engineering changes impacting serial production parts (post Phase 5 sign off) from external suppliers
- Support the Category Management team in the implementation of strategy or productivity initiatives - admin tasks that follow this step is completed
- First level of Branch escalation to the Procurement organization for support with external supplier related issues
- Perform Serial price changes upload/updates. Initiate and monitor the accuracy of the prices maintained in the plant ERP within serial product life
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
- Bachelor or Apprentice in relevant field
- Min of 3 yrs Purchasing Experience
- Professional experience in international procurement and technical products in the automotive industry
- Good communication ability and negotiation skills
- Ability to work under pressure and pronounced solution orientation
- Result oriented
- Fluency in English and German is mandatory
- Good Excel and Power Point skills as well as experience in Business Intelligence-Software
- Basic knowledge of commercial contract law
- Customer-oriented thinking and acting as well as high adherence to timelines
- Basic understanding of the processes according to ISO 9001 / IATF 16949, VDA 6.3
- Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes and experience in interpreting and analysing a CBD
