Tulon Photonics is a spin-off from the **Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA)**, specializing in tunable ultra-low noise lasers. These lasers are key for next-gen communication systems, remote sensing, and emerging quantum technologies. Fresh from an FFG spin-off fellowship, Tulon Photonics is now at the startup phase, and we're looking for a key team member to drive our strategic growth and operational execution. This is a unique opportunity to become part of a startup at the forefront of laser technology.
**Key Responsibilities**
- **Business Strategy & Market Development**: Identify and pursue high-potential market opportunities for next-generation lasers, especially in telecom, space, and quantum technologies.
- **Business Development & Partnerships**: Build strategic partnerships and foster relationships with key industry players.
- **Operational Leadership**: Manage day-to-day operations with the team to ensure growth and operational efficiency.
- **Industry Networking & Reputation**: Represent Tulon Photonics at industry events to raise visibility and highlight our technological impact through startup events.
- **Financial Strategy**: Shape the business model and collaborate with investors to ensure sustainable growth and profitability.
**Qualifications**
- **Education**: A Master’s degree in **Physics, Electronics, Engineering**, or any related field. An **MBA** and/or **PhD** is a plus, but not required.
- **Industry Experience**: Previous experience in company operation and business development in photonics, optics, or related hardware industries. Exposure to telecom, remote sensing, quantum technologies, or any photonics industry are highly desirable. Prior experience or participation in optics/photonics consortiums such as Optica, SPIE, EPIC, or other similar industry consortiums is a strong plus.
- **Business-driven**: Proven success in scaling hardware tech. companies, with a focus on **OEM sales, partnerships**, and **product commercialization**.
- **Global Perspective**: Comfortable working in an international environment and navigating cross-cultural dynamics.
