**PhD Economist - Monetary Policy Section**:

**Your tasks**:

- quantitative assessments of the ECB’s monetary policy stance and evaluation of the implementation, effectiveness, efficiency, and proportionality of the ECB’s monetary policy decisions
- development and drivers of inflation and inflation expectations in the euro area and in Austria
- conduct innovative independent research to contribute to ongoing and future policy-relevant discussions
- participate in Eurosystem wide task-forces, research networks or expert groups
- broaden the international network of the OeNB by presenting at international conferences and meetings
- contribute to the official publications of the OeNB, as well as other relevant external publications
- participate in preparing and holding monetary policy briefings for OeNB top management
- contribute to policy notes, presentations, and speeches for the OeNB top management and senior management

**Your Background**:

- a PhD (or close to finishing a PhD) in economics
- a strong interest in central banking topics (e.g., banking and financial systems and their role in the transmission of monetary policy, models of inflation determination and monetary policy analysis, among others)
- strong econometric skills, in particular with granular time-series / panel data
- proficiency in state-of-the-art software packages (R, Stata, Python, Matlab, etc.)
- a willingness to start and push forward research projects independently
- a willingness to collaborate with and support other team members in the achievement of common goals and to build open and trusting relationships within and across teams
- Excellent written and oral command of English; basic command of German and readiness to become proficient in German; further languages would be an asset
