**PHD STUDENT POSITION (F/M/X)**
(part-time,30 hours per week)

for a duration of 3,5 years.

**Your tasks**:

- Participation in the Working Group ‚Social and Religious History‘
- Support for academic events and publications
- Active participation in the scholarly activities of the Institute for Medieval Research, especially the Division

of Byzantine Research
- You are expected to complete a dissertation in Byzantine Studies at the University of Vienna, directed by

Professor Dr. Claudia Rapp

**Your profile**:

- Completed course of studies at MA level in Byzantine studies, medieval history or theology
- Experience in an academic environment
- Good command of Byzantine Greek; knowledge in Church Slavonic
- Excellent command of English is required; command of at least one modern language of scholarship;
willingness to learn German
- Interest in new tasks and in the active support of the organisation of workshop and congresses
- Soft skills (flexibility, communication skills, creativity, independence)
