The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for** Projects Directorate (PJ) - Innovation & Competitiveness Department (INCO) - Small Businesses & Innovation Advisory Division (SBIA), **at its EIB Group Office in Vienna, Austria**:TRAINEE**

**_ Duration: 4 months (fixed_**_ start date: 01_**_st_**_ March/April 2024)_**

**Objective of the traineeship**:
The Small Businesses and Innovation Advisory Division (SBIA) is a part of the Innovation and Competitiveness Department (INCO) in the Project Directorate (PJ). One of the workstreams of the division is related to the advisory activities whereby the team implements JASPERS mandates and other advisory support within the INCO remit. In terms of sectorial focus, the team covers research, development and innovation, education, digitalisation, smart development, healthcare, and productive investments. JASPERS is an initiative set up as a joint instrument of the European Commission (EC), notably DG REGIO, and the European Investment Bank in support of EU cohesion policy to help in the development of high quality and sound projects in line with EU requirements. It focuses on the project preparation stage.

The objective of this traineeship will be to develop an assessment of the digital transformation ecosystem in some Member States, with focus on the national strategies, EU funded programmes, available advisory initiatives. Important angles to consider are the digitalisation of SMEs and governments.

**Responsibilities**:
Under supervision of EIB staff you will:

- Research and map national strategies for deployment of key enabling technologies as well as the digitalisation of smes and governments
- Research the related available EU funded programmes and advisory initiatives
- Identify gaps in terms of advisory offers
- Have opportunities to enlarge the experience by taking part in the advisory assignments
- Present the results of the work to the EIB team in a form of a report

**Academic qualifications and professional skills**:

- Final year of studies or University degree preferably in science, computer engineering, economics or business administration or other relevant to the scope of this traineeship;
- Excellent knowledge of standard Microsoft Office tools (in particular Word and Excel);
- Good analytical skills;
- Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and/or French. Knowledge of other EU language would be an advantage.
