Master's Thesis non Newtonain Flow Investigation in
vor 2 Wochen
**The thesis is performed by the TU Vienna in direct cooperation with Semperit.**
**Master's thesis**
**Topic: "Non Newtonain Flow Investigation in a Screw Extruder a CFD Study"**
**Start: immediately**
**Description**:
The understanding of fluid flow and rheology behavior in a polymer extruder plays an important role in the optimization of the operation and also improving the product quality. Validated and calibrated simulation tools such as computational fluid dynamics (CFD) can provide a very deep and detailed understanding of the mentioned systems and possible
optimizations. In the following thesis, using the open source CFD toolbox OpenFOAM ®, tools and workflows for simulation of the non Newtonian polymer flow in a screw extruder will be developed and tested.
**Challenges**:
- Complex device geometry
- Non Newtonian fluid behavior
- Simulation of moving objects
- Heat transfer and heat dissipation
- Validation of developed workflows
**Requirements**:
- Knowledge in fluid dynamics and modeling of physical/chemical processes
- Knowledge of CFD software (preferably OpenFAOM ®
- Interest in scientific development of different models for non Newtonian fluids
**Further Information**:
- Immediate start
- Possibility of „Geringfügige Beschäftigung“ employment
