Computational Systems Biologist

**Preamble**:
**Be at the forefront of AI-driven precision immunology for drug discovery**

Immune-mediated diseases affect hundreds of millions of people world-wide, but less than 12% of new drugs reach approval, largely due to insufficient pre-clinical understanding of the complex underlying disease biology.

You will be joining a pre-seed stage techbio company aimed at disrupting drug discovery in the immunology space - by precisely understanding disease biology through iterative, causal discovery starting from realistic primary patient models. Our founders have authored several landmark publications in the precision medicine space, previously exited a precision medicine startup, and built a unique translational research program in a large pharmatech drug discovery company. As natives of both tech and bio spaces we deeply appreciate the unique irreducible challenges that come with both.

**Your role**:

- Process and analyze complex biological datasets including single-cell RNA sequencing and outputs of high-content imaging experiments.
- Work closely with wet lab scientists to address emerging analytical needs.
- Support lab-in-the-loop experimental design by analyzing results from previous iterations to guide resource allocation and next experiments.
- Contribute to documentation and standardization of bioinformatics workflows.
- Help integrate diverse data sources into our lab-in-the-loop discovery system.

**Your profile**:

- Ph.D or M.Sc. with equivalent experience in Computational Biology or a related field with a strong quantitative background.
- Strong programming skills in R and/or Python for biological data analysis, experience with version control.
- Hands-on experience analyzing NGS data, particularly single-cell RNA sequencing; experience with imaging and other omics modalities is a plus.
- Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS/GCP) is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to explain complex analyses to diverse stakeholders.

This is optionally a hybrid position requiring a few days per week onsite. The base of operations will be in the Klosterneuburg area on the ISTA campus, roughly 30 minutes outside of Vienna.
