We hire out-of-the-box thinkers that are well grounded with ethics and legal knowledge to ensure that Agoda achieves the right results, the right way.  **The Opportunity:** We are seeking a confident, curious and self-motivated lawyer to join our growing Legal team in Bangkok. The Counsel will play a crucial role in the legal review and guidance of new and existing products, services, and features for Agoda, and its adjacent business unit RTA. This position requires a deep understanding of platform operations, e-commerce, consumer protection, technology law, intellectual property rights, and regulations such as privacy. The ideal candidate will possess a proactive and pragmatic approach to legal issues, ensuring compliance while supporting the company’s growth objectives. We are looking for a solution-oriented team player with an international mindset and a sense of intercultural understanding who takes initiative, is able to build strong relationships and is fluent in English. If you are somebody who is curious to learn, has the aptitude to understand regulations, processes, platforms operations and, is interested in evolving technologies and products in the travel sector, this is a great opportunity for you. **The lawyer appointed will (with appropriate senior counsel’s supervision) provide legal and contractual support to the business including:** - **Product and Feature Review:** Conduct legal assessments of new products, services, and features, providing actionable advice to mitigate risks and ensure regulatory compliance. - **Policy Development and Maintenance:** Update and maintain the company’s Terms of Use, policies, and other legal documents to align with evolving laws, regulations, and industry standards. - **Cross-functional Collaboration:** Work closely with product managers, engineers, marketing teams, and other stakeholders to understand product visions and offer legal insights from ideation through deployment. - **Regulatory Compliance:** Monitor and analyze changes in e-commerce and technology laws and regulations, advising the Product strategy or proposing regulatory change management projects. - **Intellectual Property:** Provide guidance on intellectual property matters, including copyright, patent, and trademark issues related to product development. - **Legal Support:** Offer general legal support related to product development, including drafting and negotiating agreements with partners and vendors when necessary. **The person appointed will be:** - A highly motivated commercial/IT/Technology lawyer, ideally with a knowledge of law in the travel sector, and/or a passion for travel and its connection with the law. - Proactive and practical, adding value by creating pragmatic/strategic solutions to legal issues. - A team player with the ability to effectively communicate with individuals at all levels. **The successful applicant will have:** - Legal qualification to practice as a lawyer with 6+ years of post-qualification experience in a leading law firm and/or the in-house legal department of an international business (preferably both); experience in common law jurisdictions is a plus - Law Degree/Juris Doctor - A strong commercial outlook, knowledge of consumer protection, intellectual property rights, technology-related regulations, and excellent interpersonal skills. - A strategic approach to the law and likes working in a dynamic, fast paced environment
