About the European Handball Federation (EHF)
The EHF is the governing body for handball across Europe, overseeing 50 national federations and two associated federations. Recognized by the International Handball Federation (IHF), the EHF is committed to the organization and management of significant handball competitions, including the prestigious EHF EURO events and the EHF Champions League.
Position Overview | In-House Lawyer
The EHF is actively seeking to enhance its legal department by recruiting an In-House Lawyer. This role presents a unique opportunity to contribute to a leading European sports organization and to influence the legal framework within the federation. The successful candidate will collaborate with various internal departments as well as external entities and partners.
Legal Department Structure
The EHF Legal Department is organized into two primary areas:
- Corporate Affairs: Focused on contracts, data protection, intellectual property rights, regulatory compliance, and more.
- Institutional Matters: Concentrating on the EHF's legal framework, jurisdiction, and legislative issues.
The appointed individual will take charge of the corporate affairs within the EHF Legal Management unit.
Key ResponsibilitiesCore Duties
- Drafting and reviewing contracts, data processing agreements, partnership agreements, and media contracts.
- Developing and updating guidelines, regulations, and other statutory documents.
- Creating educational materials, including workshops and online resources.
- Conducting research and maintaining a jurisdiction archive.
- Managing data protection compliance across the organization.
- Providing legal support to all organizational departments.
- Assisting in anti-doping case management.
- Preparing presentations and illustrative materials.
- Coordinating with other sports organizations.
Candidate Profile
- Fluent in English, with strong writing capabilities; proficiency in German is advantageous.
- Master's degree in law, preferably with a focus on sports law.
- 1-3 years of relevant experience in a similar role, ideally within an international sports context.
- Solid understanding of contract law, data protection, and intellectual property.
- Proficient in MS Office and graphic design software.
- Dynamic, self-motivated, and capable of working under pressure.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Willingness to travel as required by event schedules.
Interested candidates will be required to complete sample tasks related to data processing and legal reasoning as part of the recruitment process. The EHF invites qualified individuals to submit their CV and cover letter in English.
This is a full-time position based at the EHF Office, with a competitive salary package.
