The Paris Lodron University of Salzburg is seeking a highly qualified individual to fill a prestigious position in Medical Systems Biology. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented researcher to contribute to our institution's mission of advancing knowledge and innovation.

About the Position

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in systems biology, bioinformatics, and translational research. The successful applicant will be responsible for developing and implementing cutting-edge methods to generate new systems biology data, enhancing our department's capabilities in tumour biology, immunology, and ageing research.

  • Conduct independent scientific research and publish findings;
  • Secure third-party funding and participate in research collaborations;
  • Establish translational research units;
  • Teach and mentor students at the undergraduate and graduate levels;
  • Contribute to university governance and administration.
Key Responsibilities

The professorship will focus on developing and providing modern/innovative methods to characterise complex biological systems, as well as investigating genetic, molecular, and biochemical mechanisms with human pathological or health-promoting relevance. We expect the candidate to:

  • Collaborate with researchers at the University of Salzburg, Salzburg University Hospital, and Paracelsus Medical University;
  • Engage in the promotion of young researchers;
  • Take on management responsibilities.
Qualifications

To be eligible for this position, candidates must have:

  • A doctorate or equivalent foreign higher education qualification;
  • Exceptional research achievements and academic credentials;
  • Excellent teaching and mentoring skills;
  • Substantial experience in acquiring third-party funding for research;
  • Strong leadership and management abilities.
