Data Scientist for Natural Catastrophes

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist to join our Nat Cat Competence Centre team in Austria. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in driving robust risk management and underwriting through the application of data science and machine learning techniques.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply data science and machine learning to improve data quality and inform risk assessments
  • Automate processes and reporting using state-of-the-art software
  • Develop and deploy Research & Development projects into live operational systems
  • Engage in the topic of natural catastrophe risks and modeling
  • Validate, calibrate, and build new models for natural catastrophe risks, as well as refine existing models
  • Stay current with the latest research and market developments in catastrophe management through seminars and conferences
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Physics, or Mathematics, or any other quantitative study
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language: Python, R, SQL
  • Fluent English language skills with excellent language skills
  • Strong teamwork, motivation, and continuous learning mindset
  • German skills a plus
