Project Management Specialist

EUMETSAT, an intergovernmental organisation based in Darmstadt, Germany, seeks a highly skilled Lead Project Controller to join its Project Planning and Control Competence Area (PPC CA).

In this role, you will be responsible for financial, budget, cost planning and control activities for two departments: Technical and Scientific Support (TSS) and Operations and Support to Users (OPS). You will be supported by a small team of talented Project Controllers and collaborate closely with the core technical teams across the organisation.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering project planning and control services to TSS and OPS departments, following documented processes and managing the allocated Project Control team;
  • Defining and providing progress reporting to management, including performance indicators and analysis of deviations and trends;
  • Supporting the Project Planning and Control Competence Area Manager and contributing to the overall harmonisation and improvement of project planning and control processes, standards and methodologies, working practices and tools;

You should have a university degree in Engineering, Economics or equivalent in a relevant discipline. Relevant experience, preferably in an engineering environment with multi-year projects, in project planning and control activities and in managing resource allocation is required.

Additionally, you should have:

  • First-hand experience of team management, including planning and monitoring of activities and keeping critical skills up-to-date;
  • SAP and strong MS Excel ability;
  • Very good interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, with a proven ability to apply these to interact with management and stakeholders as well as work within, and across, teams;
