Job Overview

As a Development Engineer - Innovation Pioneer at Zumtobel, you will be responsible for fostering innovation and developing new product concepts that form the foundation for pioneering projects. Your focus will be on designing products that meet current and future market demands and identifying market opportunities by analyzing market trends and customer needs. You will assess technological feasibility and conduct relevant studies, with a focus on developing new lighting concepts and constructing prototypes. Additionally, you will present and elaborate on customer benefits, while knowledge exchange within the team and with external partners is a key aspect of your work. You will also focus on the development and implementation of environmentally friendly and resource-efficient technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Developing innovative concepts and feasibility studies to assess the viability of new ideas, considering technical and economic requirements
  • Mechanical development and design of new lighting and illumination solutions, considering appropriate material selection, integration of additional system components, and relevant regulatory requirements
  • Collaborating with various technology and manufacturing departments to assess and evaluate new and existing manufacturing technologies
  • Coordinating within an interdisciplinary team consisting of experts from various technical and commercial fields to identify market opportunities
  • Excellent, targeted communication and networking to ensure that your creative solutions inspire all decision-makers and serve as the foundation for new lighting solutions

Requirements
  • Successfully completed technical education in mechanics, mechatronics, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in product development, mechanics, or a comparable field, ideally from a start-up or industrial company
  • Ability to creatively solve complex technical challenges and identify technological trends, preparing them for our standard development
  • Clear and convincing communication skills to convey technical concepts and to constructively unite different opinions
  • Highly structured and organized working style for successful interdisciplinary teamwork
  • A learning-oriented, solution-driven, proactive, and visionary personality with the motivation to tackle complex problems with a "we can do" and "hands-on" mentality
  • Very good German and English skills, both written and spoken
