We are seeking an experienced Optical Engineer to join our hardware team and contribute to the development of our high pulse power laser based data write/read and high NA optical microscopy system.

Job Summary

We are looking for a highly skilled Optical Engineer to support our hardware team in designing, simulating, and developing our revolutionary data storage technology. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of complex light fields and propagation through high NA optical systems, as well as experience with ray optical design software and complex light field/wave optics simulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop high pulse power laser based data write/read and high NA optical microscopy systems
  • Collaborate with hardware suppliers to discuss technical details and designs
  • Run test setups to prove design concepts
  • Develop and implement design solutions in the lab
  • Conduct optical characterization and testing
Requirements
  • Master's or Ph.D. in Optical Engineering, physics, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in optical design and analysis
  • Strong understanding of optical principles, including geometric optics, wave optics, and optical materials
  • Proficiency in ray optical design software, such as Zemax
  • Experience with complex light field/wave optics simulations using MATLAB, Python, VirtualLab Fusion
  • Hands-on experience with implementing design in the lab
  • Deep knowledge of diffraction and interference effects
  • Familiarity with optical manufacturing processes and tolerancing, experience working with suppliers
  • Understanding of laser systems and high NA optics
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Fluency in English
Nice to Have
  • Experience with optical characterization and testing equipment
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to optical systems
  • Experience with laser micromachining systems
