The EHF is the governing body that manages 50 national federations and two associated federations throughout Europe, recognized by the International Handball Federation (IHF). The organization is committed to overseeing and promoting major handball competitions, including the prestigious EHF EURO events for national teams and the EHF Champions League for club teams. Beyond event management, the EHF is focused on fostering the development of handball from grassroots initiatives to elite competitions.
Position Overview | In-House Lawyer
The EHF is actively seeking to enhance its legal department by recruiting an In-House Lawyer to join the existing team. This role presents a unique opportunity to contribute to a prominent European sports organization and influence the legal framework of the federation. The successful candidate will collaborate with various internal departments and external partners.
Legal Department Structure
The EHF Legal Department operates in two primary areas:
- Corporate Legal Affairs: encompassing contracts, data protection, intellectual property rights, regulatory compliance, and educational resources.
- Institutional Legal Affairs: focusing on the EHF's legal framework, jurisdiction, and applicable legislation.
The appointed individual will manage responsibilities within the corporate legal domain of the EHF.
Key ResponsibilitiesMain Duties
- Drafting and reviewing contracts, data processing agreements, partnership agreements, and media contracts.
- Developing and revising guidelines, regulations, bid specifications, and other legal documents.
- Creating and implementing educational workshops, online resources, and printed materials.
- Utilizing digital tools for webinars and online training.
- Preparing reports and expert opinions.
- Conducting legal research and maintaining a jurisdiction archive.
- Visualizing statistical data for online and offline use.
- Managing the ECA Arbitrator List and website.
- Overseeing data protection compliance across the organization.
- Providing legal support to all organizational departments.
- Preparing presentations and illustrative materials.
- Assisting with official events and anti-doping case management.
- Organizing and managing the working environment.
- Supporting legal compliance and legislative matters.
- Collaborating with other sports organizations and finalizing legal publications.
Candidate Profile
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken, with a strong emphasis on writing proficiency.
- Proficiency in German is considered advantageous.
- Master's degree in law, preferably with a specialization in sports law.
- Experience in drafting contracts.
- Solid understanding of data protection, intellectual property, and general contract law.
- Proficient in MS Office, database management, and graphic design software.
- Dynamic, adaptable, and willing to engage with the sports ecosystem.
- Team-oriented with a passion for producing comprehensive legal documents.
- Self-motivated and resilient under pressure.
- Flexible to meet the demands of the sports schedule and travel as necessary.

Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience in a similar role, ideally within an international sports context.
- Educational background demonstrating comprehensive legal knowledge.
- Familiarity with handball and/or experience in an international sports environment.
