About the Role

Digital Waffle is partnering with a forward-thinking consultancy in Austria to find a talented Data Engineer to join their growing data team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement Big Data & AI solutions in a petabyte-scale environment
  • Deploy and operate Big Data & AI solutions on cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, and Kubernetes
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines, ETL routes, and migrate existing DWH/DL systems
  • Provide data engineering and analytics expertise to C-level teams and other stakeholders
  • Collaborate closely with other evoila teams and understand their concepts and solutions
  • Support sales efforts by building and maintaining customer relationships
  • Ensure long-term, cooperative relationships with customers

Requirements:

  • University degree in computer science, e-technology, physics, or mathematics
  • Alternatively, completed training as an IT specialist (m/f/d) for system integration/application development and proven professional experience
  • Knowledge of Big Data architectures, including AWS, Azure, and on-premise Cloudera distributions
  • Experience with technologies such as Python, Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, and Airflow
  • Hands-on experience with Docker and CI&CD
  • Strong programming ability and analytical/conceptual skills
  • Ability to work in a team and customer focus
  • Fluent German and good English

Desirable Skills:

  • Hands-on experience implementing Data Lake/Hadoop platforms
  • Hands-on experience implementing and performance-tuning Hadoop/Spark implementations
  • Proficient in database architecture and operations, including MongoDB, MySQL, and PostgreSQL
  • Experience with relevant tools, such as Sqoop, Nifi, Kafka, Oozie, Hue, Zookeeper, HCatalog, and Solr
  • Experience with SQL MPP technologies, including Hive, Impala, Spark SQL, Presto, and Trino
  • Experience in developing software code in programming languages, such as Java, Python, and Scala
  • Experience with AWS services, including Glue, EMR, Athena, Kinesis, S3, Sagemaker, and Lambda functions
  • Experience with Azure services
  • Stakeholder management and customer-facing skills
