Data Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to join our team at REWE International AG. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing a scalable data architecture on the Google Cloud platform.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and develop an optimal data architecture to support analysis and machine learning use cases.
• Collaborate with analysts, product managers, and backend developers to understand and implement data requirements.
• Design and implement new extraction, transformation, and loading processes from various data sources.
• Utilize state-of-the-art methodologies to deliver a future-proof, scalable data platform.

Requirements

• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud.
• Experience in creating scalable data pipelines.
• Familiarity with custom ETL design and maintenance.
• Knowledge of XML & JSON data formats.
• Experience with relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL or similar).
• Programming skills in R, Python, Java, etc.
• Experience in creating data workflows via Kafka, Apache NiFi, Apache Airflow or similar tools.
• Experience in communicating via REST APIs.
• General experience in delivering a scaled data and analytics platform.
• Knowledge of dbt (data build tool) for data transformation and modeling.
• Independent and structured way of working.
• High level of ownership and ability to learn new technologies in a fast-paced environment.
• English knowledge in spoken and written.
