About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Backend Engineer to join our team at Journi GmbH. As a key member of our development team, you will be responsible for designing and developing scalable, efficient, and high-quality software solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Developing the core functionality of our industry-leading printing app using Scala
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including frontend colleagues, product designers, and managers, to design and develop new features and REST APIs
  • Identifying areas for improvement in your own and team's work and implementing changes to optimize performance
  • Communicating effectively with team members to ensure seamless collaboration and knowledge sharing
Requirements
  • At least 3 years of experience in developing backend applications, with a strong portfolio of projects or contributions to open-source repositories
  • Proficiency in any JVM-based language, such as Scala, Kotlin, or Java, with a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies
  • Experience in designing and developing REST APIs, with a strong understanding of API security and scalability
  • Familiarity with unit testing frameworks and the ability to write automated tests with mocks
  • Experience working with SQL databases, such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MariaDB, and NoSQL databases, such as Redis, AWS DynamoDB, or MongoDB
Bonus Skills
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control systems, and agile development methodologies
  • Knowledge of statistical methods or machine learning algorithms, with experience applying them to real-world problems
  • Experience migrating monolithic architectures to microservices-based systems
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members
What We Offer

We provide a comprehensive compensation package, including a base salary of €65,000 per year, which may be adjusted based on experience and qualifications.
