Job Opportunity

We are seeking a talented Embedded Software Developer to join our team at Viewpointsystem GmbH. As a key member of our development team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing firmware for our industry-leading smart glasses and eye tracking platform.

As an Embedded Software Developer, you will collaborate with our hardware, mechanics, and research teams on cross-functional international projects. Your expertise in firmware development, microcontroller architecture, and real-time systems will be essential in driving the success of our products.

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement firmware for our smart glasses and eye tracking platform.
  • Collaborate with hardware, mechanics, and research teams on international projects.
  • Contribute to the specification, design, and implementation of our products.
  • Ensure product quality through code reviews and testing.
  • Use state-of-the-art CI/CD tools and methods, such as GitLab and Docker.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 5+ years of experience in firmware development for microcontrollers.
  • Experience in all stages of development and maintenance.
  • Solid foundation in electronics and knowledge of lab tools (oscilloscope, digital signal analyzer).
  • Proficiency in communication interfaces (SPI, UART, I2C, USB, MIPI).
  • Deep understanding of microcontroller architectures (preferably ARM).
  • Good written and spoken English.
  • Basic understanding of machine learning.
  • Experience with real-time or time-constrained systems.
  • Linux and Python experience.
  • Background in software testing and quality.
Nice-to-Haves

The following skills are highly desirable:

  • Rust development experience.
  • Deep knowledge of machine learning on microcontrollers.
  • ISTQB certification.
  • FPGA experience.
  • Knowledge of image acquisition and processing.
  • Firmware programming experience in highly regulated industries (aerospace, medical devices, automotive).
  • Firmware architecture design.
  • Experience with bootloaders and OTA updates.
  • Previous projects with wireless communications for microcontrollers (IoT).
  • Personal engineering projects, passion for this field.
