Design Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Design Manager to join our team at VTU Engineering GmbH. As a key member of our project team, you will be responsible for the management of all technical disciplines and the planning and execution of technical activities.

• Implementation of the technical concept according to the project contract
• Execution and optimisation of the plant design in view of the project budget, schedule, company guidelines and standards as well as the customer requirements
• Organising planning processes as well as monitoring and assessing progress and ensuring the required quality in the project
• Responsibility for the coordination of the technical disciplines, leadership and management of the engineering team (especially with regard to resources, tasks, deadlines and costs)
• Support of the project team with technical know-how and profound expertise
• Development of standards and the project-specific engineering manual in coordination with the client and internal departments
• Review and approval of services incl. suppliers for correctness and completeness as well as planning and management of FATs and SATs
• Creation, review, updating and approval of documents
• Monitoring and participating in the identification of project risks and the development of risk reduction plans
• Moderation of project meetings as well as interface to the customer with regard to all technical matters

• Completed technical studies with a focus on process engineering, plant or mechanical engineering or similar
• Training in project management is an advantage
• Corporate thinking and customer orientation
• Several years of relevant professional experience in engineering management of large-scale projects, preferably in the pharmaceutical or chemical plant sector
• Comprehensive, interdisciplinary technical know-how as well as profound knowledge and experience in the engineering of industrial projects
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Strong leadership skills and team orientation coupled with commitment and hands-on mentality
• Very good knowledge of English, ideally very good knowledge of German
• Willingness to travel (mainly in Europe)
