  • As a Principal Software Development Engineer, you will be responsible for the complete testing lifecycle of complex projects or features, encompassing test design, automation development, and production monitoring.
  • You will work within a cross-functional agile team, reporting to the Engineering Manager.
  • Key Responsibilities
    • Enhancing Test Automation Frameworks
    • You will significantly enhance automation code structure and framework design, focusing on maintainability, execution speed, and coverage.
    • You will take the lead in conducting Proof of Concepts (POCs) for new languages or frameworks within your technical focus area.
    • You will lead the design and code review process for test automation, actively seeking and providing constructive criticism.
    • Ensuring Quality and Efficiency
    • You will ensure predictability, quality, and efficiency in your squad's delivery or deliveries of multiple squads you are overseeing.
    • You will automate repetitive manual tasks to boost personal/team productivity.
    • Technical Leadership
    • You will prioritize and recognize the importance of addressing maintenance and technical debt within the automation framework.
    • You will escalate challenges that fall outside your control but have an impact on the squad's delivery.
    • You will make work prioritization decisions with a clear understanding of the trade-offs between quality, technical debt, and timely delivery.
    • Collaboration and Leadership
    • You will collaborate closely with developers during code reviews and offer recommendations for enhancing test coverage at the appropriate level.
    • You will lead collaborative efforts with other squads in your pod and collaborate with Product and Development counterparts to address issues impacting your squad's delivery.
    • You will actively participate in the prioritization of cross-squad automation initiatives and assume a leadership role within your own squads.
Qualifications
  • Experience in Agile Development
  • You should have experience in Agile Development, an iterative and flexible approach to software development that emphasizes collaboration, adaptability, and customer feedback throughout the development process.
  • Culture of Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment
  • You should have experience in a culture of continuous integration and continuous deployment automation & orchestration.
  • Test Automation Frameworks
  • You should be advanced in the creation of Test Automation Frameworks, a set of components that facilitate executing tests and comprehensive reporting of test results.
  • Technology Strategy
  • You should be competent in Technology Strategy; the collective tools, processes, and methodologies that enable an organisation to align business strategy and goals with its IT services and infrastructure.
  • Software Testing
  • You should have experience in Software Testing; an investigation conducted to provide stakeholders with information about the quality of the software product or service under test.
  • Microservices / Service-Oriented Architecture
  • You should be proficient with Microservices / Service-Oriented Architecture; an architectural approach where software applications are composed of small, independent, and loosely coupled services that communicate with each other through APIs, enabling flexibility, scalability, and modularity.
  • IT Risk Management
  • You should be advanced in IT Risk Management, the policies, procedures, and technologies that a company uses to mitigate threats from malicious actors and reduce information technology vulnerabilities.
  • Troubleshooting
  • You should be advanced in Troubleshooting, systematic process of identifying, diagnosing, and resolving issues or problems that arise in various systems, devices, or processes.
  • Project / Programme Management
  • You should be advanced in Project / Programme Management, planning, organising, and overseeing tasks, resources, and timelines to achieve specific objectives and deliver successful outcomes within a defined scope.
  • Business Process Management
  • You should be advanced in Business Process Management, the discipline in which people use various methods to discover, model, analyse, measure, improve, optimise, and automate business processes.
  • Business Analysis
  • You should be proficient in Business Analysis; systematically evaluating an organisation's processes, systems, and strategies to identify opportunities for improvement and facilitate informed decision-making.
  • Technology Governance
  • You should be competent in Technology Governance; the framework of policies, processes, and structures that guide the effective and responsible management, decision-making, and accountability for an organisation's technology-related activities and investments.
