Vaccine Research Scientist for Infectious Disease Development

Our team is dedicated to advancing a broad range of vaccine candidates into and through the clinic, including candidates against Lyme disease, Shigella, and Zika.
Job DescriptionWe are seeking a skilled Vaccine Research Scientist to join our Pre-Clinical Vaccine Development Department in Vienna.
You will support technical activities in the vaccine R&D process, focusing on the discovery, selection, and characterization of preclinical vaccine candidates.
- Transform complex processes into simpler, more effective solutions
- Generate and interpret scientific data with high accuracy and judgment
- Support data review to ensure scientific quality and hypothesis testing
- Train and mentor team members in scientific techniques, facilitating efficient workload distribution
- Define and establish new operational procedures and ensure compliance with Level 2 biosafety standards
- Communicate effectively within the organization, prepare internal scientific documents, and present results internally
- Participate in scientific discussions (publications, external lectures, etc.) as well as publications and presentations
- Recognize the impact of scientific topics on the project and create awareness
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you should have:
- A postgraduate qualification (PhD, research-based)
- At least 2 years of work experience in virology or bacteriology
- A scientific track-record evidenced by respective achievements, including publications
- Prior experience with the disease targets of Valneva's key pipeline programs (Chikungunya, Borrelia, and Zika)
- Ability to work across a global organization
- Familiarity with project management processes
- Proficient in documentation, manuscript preparation, reports, and presentations
- Fluent in English, both spoken and written

The minimum salary for this position is €120,000 gross per year based on full-time employment. Salaries are market-oriented and in line with qualifications and experience.
