About This Role

As a Pharmacy Technician at Southern Health-Santé Sud, you will play a vital role in the pharmacy team responsible for preparing, compounding, packaging, maintaining, issuing, and distributing drugs, chemicals, and supplies in accordance with policy, directives, and procedures. The position also involves completing related clerical duties, such as document preparation, record-keeping, pricing, and filing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Procure and store drugs, chemicals, and supplies in accordance with established procedures.
  • Prepare and compound medications, including maintaining accurate records of preparation and distribution.
  • Package and label medications for distribution to healthcare facilities and patients.
  • Conduct quality control checks on medications and supplies to ensure accuracy and integrity.
  • Participate in the maintenance of pharmacy inventory, including ordering and receiving supplies.
  • Perform related clerical duties, including document preparation, record-keeping, and filing.

Requirements

  • Completion of CCAPP Accredited Pharmacy Technician Certificate or equivalent.
  • Recognition as a Pharmacy Technician by the College of Pharmacists of Manitoba.
  • Eligibility to complete the CPhM Pharmacy Technician Structured Practical Training Program and CPhM Pharmacy Technician Jurisprudence Examination.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and pharmaceutical calculations.
  • Previous experience in a hospital pharmacy setting an asset.
  • Demonstrated basic computer skills and effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with attention to detail and effective decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in both official languages for target and designated bilingual positions.
  • Ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the job and maintain confidentiality.
