Position Summary The PHICS Unit works to:
Provide health classification expertise to support the institute's analysis and reporting of health information.Contribute to Australian and international health classification development activities.Participate in specialised activities designed to support health information system strengthening across five Pacific countries.As the EL1 Senior Health Classifications Advisor, you will undertake the following duties:
Oversee the provision of written and verbal expert advice regarding the use of health classifications to internal and external stakeholders.Provide expert advice and support to several Australian and international health classification committees.Provide training on the use of health classifications to AIHW staff.Support the use of health classifications in the Western Pacific Region.Provide strategic advice to the Unit Head on technical matters relating to health classifications.Selection Criteria Our ideal candidate will have most or all of the following skills and knowledge:
Ability to communicate with influence both verbally and in writing with a range of internal and external stakeholders.Ability to shape strategic thinking by understanding the link between the work of the Unit, the Institute and the whole of government agenda.Demonstrated ability to achieve results by drawing on the expertise of others.Ability to effectively lead a small team of technical staff.The ability to cultivate productive working relationships.Exemplifies drive and integrity.Relevant tertiary qualifications in Health Information Management or equivalent, and extensive experience in clinical coding are essential.
Eligibility To be eligible to apply for this vacancy, you must:
Be an Australian citizen.Undergo any required pre-employment checks.Hold tertiary qualifications in Health Information Management or equivalent.Obtain and maintain a valid Security Clearance if required by the institute.A probationary period of six months will apply to any new engagement to the APS.
