NEW OPPORTUNITY In the role of Handyperson, you will play a vital role in carrying out the maintenance of apartments, common areas and building exterior, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently. You will also work closely with a dedicated team of professionals to create and maintain an exceptional living environment for our student residents.
HANDYPERSON - THE ROLE Our ideal candidate will possess a positive, can-do attitude and confidence to work both independently and within a team. Preferably you will have similar experience within student accommodation, real estate, or hospitality – however if you're a quick learner we are still open to considering your application You will have a 'safety first' mindset, and an understanding of basic OH&S principles and chemical handling.
This role will keep you busy and will offer you variety in duties day-to-day. You will need to have the physical ability to move & relocate soft furnishings around the property and be okay with working across a portfolio of properties across Canberra. You will be flexible with your availability and willing to assist with major emergency issues after hours if called on. Communication skills are key in this role as our staff and residents come from diverse backgrounds. Some of your key duties and responsibilities include:
Effectively and efficiently carry out maintenance of the student apartments, common areas and building exterior, and manage the soft facilities requirements of the propertyGeneral maintenance – lighting checks and replacement, minor painting & plastering repairs, minor carpentry and plumbing repairs throughout the buildingWork within and maintain procedures and standards for all operational areas to maximise efficiency of resourcesMaintain the highest level of maintenance, safety and security at all timesOperate within agreed company health and safety procedures. Follow industry and statutory regulations at all timesAdvise Manager of work to be carried out by external contractors and ensure appropriate approvals are obtainedProvide assistance in a professional and efficient manner to residents and visitorsCommunicate effectively with other staff and contractorsEstablish good working relations with contractorsOur mandatory requirements include:
Valid work rights in AustraliaNational Police CheckWorking with Vulnerable People's CheckValid Australian Drivers Licence and reliable vehicleCurrent First Aid + CPR - or be willing to obtainAre you ready to embark on a rewarding career?
