We are seeking an experienced and motivated
Deputy Municipal Building Surveyor
to support the Municipal Building Surveyor in managing the day-to-day operations of the Building Surveying Service. This role sits within the broader City Planning Department and is crucial in ensuring that buildings within the municipality are safe, structurally sound, and compliant with the Building Act and Regulations.As Deputy MBS, you will lead a dedicated team, providing guidance and a framework for responsive customer service. You will oversee building applications, report and consent applications, compliance matters, and provide strategic input on long-term operational issues. Your role will involve developing new processes and procedures to enhance service delivery and maintain the highest standards of safety and quality across the municipality.About You
The successful candidate will bring a thorough knowledge of the Building Act, Building Regulations, and the Building Code of Australia. With strong leadership skills, you will manage and develop your team, fostering a collaborative and customer-focused culture. Your technical expertise will be complemented by excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.You will also have the ability to strategically address operational challenges and implement innovative solutions. Proficiency in information technology and an aptitude for using it to enhance service delivery will be key in this role.Key Requirements:
Tertiary qualifications in Building Surveying (Degree or Diploma) from an accredited course.Current registration as a Building Surveyor Unlimited (preferably) with the Victorian Building Authority.Experience in applying the Building Act, Regulations, and Codes to all building classes.Employee Working with Children's Check and a satisfactory National Police Check.Why Join Us?
