Full time, fixed term (Parental Leave Cover)  Enterprise Agreement:  Doctors in Training 2022 - 2026  $125,900.00 - $173,290.00 + salary packaging + super  A vacancy has arisen for a fixed term full time 6 month placement as a Microbiology registrar at Austin Health.
The position commences on 3rd Feb 2025 and work conditions and remuneration are described in the Victorian Public Health Sector (AMA Victoria) – Doctors in Training Agreement.
The Department of Microbiology has 3 supervising dual trained Microbiologist and Infectious Diseases Physicians with a scientific workforce of >20 FTE scientists.
The laboratory is RCPA accredited for Microbiology advanced training for up to 2 years.
The Microbiology registrar position involves an integrated role with the Austin Hospital Infectious Diseases Department with registrars working closely with the Infectious Diseases Department.
Austin Pathology provides Microbiology services to Metropolitan and regional areas covering a population catchment area of over 1 million.
It services Austin Health a tertiary referral centre with comprehensive clinical services including, but not limited to renal, liver and allogenic haematological transplantation, statewide spinal and home ventilation services and Obstetric and neonatal Microbiology.
Core activities include liaising with laboratory Microbiology scientists and notifying clinical teams of critical results providing clinical interpretive assistance under the guidance of the Medical Microbiologists.
Opportunities for hands on exposure to bench work and research projects exist within the Department.
Pre-requisite requirement of post part one RACP qualification.
Desirable to have experience in Infectious Diseases clinical work as a single or dual trainee.
Past exposure and experience in laboratory Microbiology is highly desirable.
