The Melbourne Rudolf Steiner School is a K-12 co-educational, non-denominational school located in the eastern suburb of Warranwood.
The school is seeking to appoint a cello tutor for up to two days per week commencing Term 1, week beginning 27th January 2025.
This position is ongoing subject to a six-month probationary period.
The successful applicant will be qualified in music performance, holding a B.Mus in Cello Performance or equivalent.
Essential to the role is the ability to teach a range of levels from the beginner student in Class 3 to VCE Music students.
The successful candidate will instill a love for instrumental music in primary-aged children while being capable of teaching advanced level students and possessing the relevant curriculum knowledge and performance experience necessary to prepare students for VCE Music performance outcomes.
Experience in conducting class orchestras and leading small ensembles in various musical styles is also desirable.
Our music program currently includes six orchestras, contemporary bands, Acapella ensembles, world/folk ensembles, string ensembles, VCE ensembles, and other groups rehearsing each week.
The successful applicant would join a vibrant music community and a wonderful team consisting of over fifteen specialist music teachers/tutors.
The applicant must have a current Working with Children Check and/or current VIT registration and possess a sound understanding of and commitment to current Child Safety Standards.
Hours and salary are based on student retention.
Shortlisted applicants will be required to perform a solo work for cello during the interview process.
