The Department of Parliamentary Services provides support to all Members of Parliament for the recruitment and selection of their staff.
On behalf of Brad Rowswell, Member for Sandringham, we are now recruiting for an ongoing, part-time, Electorate Officer (Grade 2).
About the Role Join a small, but dynamic team supporting Brad Rowswell MP, the Shadow Treasurer & State Member for Sandringham.
This role focuses on managing critical administrative and operational functions while contributing to impactful community engagement and advocacy.
As an Electorate Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the office operates smoothly, delivering excellent service to constituents, and supporting parliamentary activities.
Based in the Member of Parliament's electorate office, you will interact daily with constituents, community organisations, and other stakeholders.
Key responsibilities may include:
Parliamentary supportGeneral administration and office managementConstituent AdvocacyCommunity and stakeholder engagementLocal policy developmentElectorate communications supportUnder Section 30 of the Parliamentary Administration Act 2005, Electorate Officers must not perform any party-specific activities.
Party-specific activity means any activity for the dominant purpose of directing how a person should vote at an election, by promoting or opposing the election of any candidate at the election; or a registered political party; or an elected member.
Electorate Officers play an important role in providing services to the Victorian community.
Reporting to the Member of Parliament that nominates you, your work will require a high degree of trust and integrity.
Confidentiality is also a key requirement when interacting with constituents and visitors to the office or in the community.
Salary and hours of work Electorate Officer salaries are set out in the Electorate Officers (Victoria) Single Enterprise Agreement 2021.
We are seeking someone who can work on a part-time basis, up to 53.20 hours per fortnight.
The days of the week can be discussed and agreed with the Member.
The ordinary hours of work will be between 9am to 5pm Monday – Friday.

The role of an Electorate Officer requires you to demonstrate:
Initiative and organisational ability, particularly working autonomously to determine priorities and perform a broad range of office support duties, often to tight and demanding deadlines.Ability to draft clear, engaging, and well-structured written materials, including correspondence, newsletter articles, social media posts, and speeches, tailored to diverse audiences and platforms.Experience in and a love for community development including building and managing a database of community organisations.Excellent relationship management skills and proven ability to reach out, build and manage relationships with a variety of stakeholders and community organisations.Excellent computer skills with experience in MS suite of software and use and maintenance of online communications.Commitment and ability to provide the highest level of client service in a challenging environment, providing sound advice and maintaining the strictest confidence on all issues.An interest in government and parliamentary processes, and a willingness to learn how local community, government, and the parliament intersect and work together.Strong knowledge of the social media landscape and an ability to use social media to build and maintain relationships with local stakeholders and leaders.Ability to collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders from government and peak organisations to local community organisations and constituents.Ability to evaluate work procedures, practices, and systems and to implement change.Sound coaching and mentoring skills with the ability to support other staff in a team environment, provide direction where required, and respect the needs of others.Behaviours consistent with Electorate Officer values and Code of Conduct, including the ability to display high levels of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, and respect in relationships with others and decision-making.For more information about the role, please see the attached position description.
