Come join the Canberra Equine Hospital TeamAbout Us:A team of 3 full time and 2 part time vets plus a visiting Specialist Equine Surgeon24hr on call serviceAmbulatory and in hospital facilitiesMinor and major surgery capabilitiesPortable x-ray, ultrasound and scope.Shared in house laboratoryAn interesting mix of performance horses including racehorses, showjumpers and dressage along with seniors, pleasure horses and broodmares.Our vets are always keen to teach and share knowledge.About the role:Full time nurse (38hrs/week) with ability to cover reception as requiredFlexible weekend roster (1in3), public holidays and on call 1 night through the weekSome driving involved, allows the vets time to type up visit notesAssist vets with a variety of appointments, trot up and lunging, radiography, safely restrain horses for procedures.Surgical nursing, field anaesthesia and recovering the patient, overnight nursing, packing and sterilizing equipment, grooming, maintain clean stables/barn, taking and running bloods in the labMonitoring and treatment of hospitalised patients by taking and recording TPR and administering IV/IM/oral/eye medicationsEmergency triage and critical care including new born foalsAbout you:Experienced horse person who can demonstrate safe working techniques specific to horsesKeen to learn and develop new skills with a teachable attitudeHighly motivated, reliable and flexibleCert IV in vet nursing an advantage but not essentialConfident to give IM/IV/oral medicationsGreat team fit and comfortable working on your ownExcellent communication skills and great attention to detail in record keeping and documentationReferences and referees to be providedAbout the details:This is an exciting, fulfilling and varied position with a high level of responsibility in a team that provides the highest standards of veterinary care to our clients and patients.To apply for the position please email your hand written letter of application with attached resume to or feel free to come by and drop it off at reception.We are looking for someone to start asap and applications will close Friday 24th November 2023Your application will include the following questions:Which of the following statements best describes your right to work in Australia?How many years' experience do you have as a veterinary nurse?Have you completed a qualification in veterinary nursing?#J-18808-Ljbffr
