Role The Careers Practitioner will:
Responsibilities Create & manage a career calendar for each year level.
Liaise with wellbeing & inclusion teams to facilitate pathways planning for students.
Coordinate and implement the My Career Insight (Morrisby) program for year 9 students including monitoring the Morrisby website.
Coordinate the My Career Exploration program for year 7 & 8 students.
Coordinate the My Career Portfolio program for all students including monitoring the MCP website and liaising with year-level leaders.
Manage the Career Tools website & provide direction to leading teachers/teachers to support classroom career-related lessons.
Assist the course selection team with pathways counselling and course selection process.
Oversee VTAC & interstate higher education applications.
Communicate with the school community in relation to career-related information via Compass Newsfeeds including careers newsletter.
Organise external presentations as appropriate for year-level assemblies.
Respond to incoming careers-related emails.
Conduct exit meetings (& provide appropriate pathways options) with students and families as directed by year-level teams/principal team.
Conduct individual student meetings with all year 12 VCE & VCE VM students to confirm pathways plan, application processes, subject changes, scoreless meetings, etc.
Counsel year 12 students with VTAC accounts, course preference, SEAS & Scholarship applications and provide support when results are released.
Provide information in relation to scholarship applications.
Provide counselling and support for students and families needing personalised or specialised pathways.
Link students in with appropriate additional support services when needed.
Assist students with subject choices along with the transition to tertiary courses, employment, apprenticeships, defence forces, etc.
Maintain current and relevant resources in the pathways office.
Attend career practitioner days at university, TAFE, Industry events, etc.
Present information at year-level assemblies, information evenings, classes, etc.
Support year-level leaders with running career events/lessons.
Liaise with and maintain a database of alternative education opportunities.
Engage with the Headstart Coordinator to support students' access to SBAT opportunities.
Attend SSG meetings as required.
Maintain contact and provide support to students/families approved for Temporary Exemption from school.
Direct completion of DET destination data requirements.
Maintain current knowledge with Structured Workplace Learning and Work Experience DET requirements.
Maintain appropriate student records.
Manage the VASS database, ensuring timely and accurate entry and adherence to due dates.
Attend and actively participate in regular careers meetings with the Business Manager and/or Assistant Principal.
Ensure any new and current initiatives as directed by DET are implemented timely.
Other duties as directed by the Business Manager, Principal, or Assistant Principal.
Risk and Occupational Health and Safety Comply with legislated occupational health and safety practices and participate in consultative processes.
Observe safe work practices in accordance with school policy, training, and instructions.
Identify, report and where appropriate, action risks/hazards in order to eliminate or mitigate against the risk recurring.
Promote and implement occupational health and safety and risk mitigation processes within the College.

Previous experience in Career Education & VET essential.

Ongoing training centred around Careers role.
Be able to integrate habits and practices of ongoing review and evaluation to ensure continuous improvement through the performance and development cycle.
Participate in ongoing professional development plans as directed by DET.
