We acknowledge their continuing connection to their culture and pay our respects to their Elders past and present.Child safetyCSIRO is committed to the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people involved in our activities and programs.The opportunityThe HVAC technician role is part of the Facilities team and works under limited direction and supervision to perform installation work, routine maintenance tasks, modifications and fault repair of complex antenna and building HVAC systems as well as mentoring apprentices and managing contractors as required to fulfil external maintenance contracts.Your duties will include:Respond to faults, complaints, audits, and incidents, coordinating with internal and external contacts, including CSIRO and JPL.Maintain the site's Building Management System (BMS), promptly addressing alarms and faults.Perform installations, upgrades, and provide specialist advice on complex issues to the Facilities Team Leader and customers.Supervise contractors and ensure compliance with security, licensing, and safety standards, as well as mentor apprentice HVAC technicians.Update maintenance schedules, configuration management systems, and participate in Facilities Inspections, providing reports as needed.Follow procurement procedures for goods and services, and use maintenance systems to improve efficiency and system reliability.Promote a culture of continuous improvement, support health and safety initiatives, and adhere to CSIRO's Code of Conduct and diversity goals.Location: Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex (CDSCC) Tidbinbilla, ACTSalary: AU$83,562 to AU$93,748 pa, plus Tracking Station Allowance of $123.95 per week, plus annual Antenna Allowance, plus up to 15.4% superannuationReference: 98555To be considered you will need:Education / Qualifications: Trade qualification as a Refrigeration Mechanic.Certifications:ACT Driver's LicenseWhite CardWorking with Asbestos CertificationSilica-Dust Awareness CertificationExperience: Established working experience within an industrial maintenance or operations environment.Technical Skills: Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).Licenses / Training (current or obtainable within 3 months):Working at Heights and Confined Spaces trainingElevated Work Platform (EWP) LicenseAdditional qualification in HVAC, PLC, or building maintenance.Familiarity with Maximo and/or SAP business management systems.For full details about this role please review the Position Description.Applications for this position are open to Australian/New Zealand Citizens, Australian Permanent Residents or you must either hold, or be able to obtain, a valid working visa for the duration of the specified term.Appointment to this role is subject to provision of a national police check and may be subject to other security/medical/character requirements.Flexible working arrangementsWe work flexibly at CSIRO, offering a range of options for how, when and where you work.Diversity and inclusionWe are working hard to recruit people representing the diversity across our society, and ensure that all our people feel supported to do their best work and feel empowered to let their ideas flourish.About CSIROAt CSIRO Australia's national science agency, we solve the greatest challenges through innovative science and technology.
